Belgium boss Roberto Martinez has claimed that Aston Villa defender Bjorn Engels is not “100% fit”.
The Villa defender, who has impressed a lot of fans so far at Villa Park, is reportedly not even fully fit according to his national boss, and that is why he was left out of the squad to play San Marino and Scotland.

Several Villa fans reacted to the news on social media, with many being confused as to why Martinez thinks that he isn’t fully fit.
Bradley is very confused, especially as Dean Smith never mentioned any injuries to the Belgian defender.

@Gilbswife can’t wait for the Belgian defender to play at his best, if he is currently performing that well whilst injured.

If Engels has been playing this well whilst injured, then I wonder how good he will be when he’s 100% fit.
However, it does seem likely that Mings’ kick to the head might’ve given him a concussion, and that maybe what Martinez is referring to.
However, when he’s fully fit, he should 100% be getting into the Belgium squad, as after only a short time in Villa shirt many fans have been very impressed by Engels performances.
The defender has certainly been a huge factor in Villa’s defensive improvements this season, and his partnership with Mings is improving week by week.
