Villa player ratings: Palace (A)

Aston Villa suffered another defeat in the Premier League on Saturday when they lost to Crystal Palace 1-0 at Selhurst Park.

Dean Smith’s men started off on the front foot, but Palace soon started to grow into the game and Villa started making unnecessary errors.

Villa made it to the break all level, but the game changed early in the second half when Trezeguet got himself a second yellow card.

Palace were all over Villa, but the away side were somehow managing to keep them out. They broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute when Jordan Ayew got the better of Mings and Grealish and slotted the ball past Tom Heaton.

Henri Lansbury thought he had rescued a point for his side when he found the back of the net with just seconds remaining, but Friend was adamant that this game wasn’t going to be the one that wouldr ruin his accumulator.

He decided to disallow the goal and book Grealish for diving instead. A decision that nobody in the footballing world could understand. It’s safe to say that he won’t be having a beer in Birmingham anytime soon.

Here are our Villa player ratings…
