Aston Villa are reportedly under investigation by the Premier League in regards to the sale of Villa Park that was completed this summer.
Villa sold their famous ground to their owners, Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens, in a deal worth over £56.7 million.
This type of deal has become commonplace with many clubs, including Derby County, who were also investigated over their sale of Pride Park to owner Mel Morris.

Several Villa fans reacted to the news on social media, with many believing that the Premier League won’t find much wrong with the deal.
Andrew says that the stadium was sold under EFL rules, so the Premier League couldn’t even do anything to punish Villa.

The sale was always going to be a controversial one, especially with the ramifications if Villa have broken a rule.

In the Championship, it is assumed these deals are done to bypass FFP, so it must also be true in the Premier League.
However, other Premier League clubs have similar deals, and these are never seemingly investigated, so Villa might be okay here.
