Aston Villa fans have reacted after local rivals Birmingham City have been fined following last season’s incident with Jack Grealish.
Birmingham have been fined £42,500 after a fan ran onto the pitch and hit Villa star Grealish in last season’s derby. Villa then went on to win the game 1-0 with Grealish scoring the winner.
This fine for Birmingham comes about six months after the original incident, and Villa fans will be happy that their rivals have finally been punished for what was an extraordinary event; one which we see happen little in football.

There has been a mixed response from both sides of this, with most Villa fans saying the fine should be more.

Despite the fine being issued, it should certainly have been more harsh, as regardless of any rivalry, no fan should go onto the pitch to try and harm a player.
Overall, it is good to see the back of this bizarre event, and it is good to see the problem resolved, despite the EFL’s poor handling of the situation.
