Things certainly didn’t go to plan for Aston Villa on Sunday, as Arsenal came back twice to win 3-2 against Dean Smith’s side.
Villa took the lead thanks to John McGinn’s early strike, and things got better after Arsenal were reduced to ten men.
However, the Gunners were handed a penalty early in the second half, with Nicholas Pepe getting his first Arsenal goal.
Wesley wouldn’t have the scores level for long however, with the Brazilian grabbing his second Villa goal moments after Arsenal levelled it.
Villa tried to hold the lead but collapsed with ten minutes left of the game.
Calum Chambers got the levelling goal before Pierre Emerick Aubameyang got the winner late on for Unai Emery’s side.
The result condemns Dean Smith’s side to yet another defeat and sees them squander yet another lead against a top-six side away from home.
But what exactly went wrong for Villa? Here, we’ll look at several key things that went wrong for Dean Smith’s team.
