Wesley wants to play Champions League football with Villa – realistic?

Villa striker Wesley has revealed his ambitions to play Champions League football with his new club.

Since he made the move to the Midlands from Club Brugge for around £20 million, the striker has scored four goals, two of them coming against Norwich at the weekend. The Villains currently sit fifteenth so the Brazilian’s hopes probably aren’t likely to come true but, you never know.

‘Maybe I can win the Champions League with Aston Villa’ the twenty-two-year-old told Sports Witness in a recent interview

The striker knows the illustrious Champions League through he’s time at Brugge. ‘I miss the Champions League but I achieved my dream of playing in the Premier League’ he stated. Since the Brazilian moved to the Midlands he has settled quickly and he is enjoying living there.

Whilst at the moment his hopes look very unlikely, Villa evidently have cash to splash and so far most of the over one hundred million spent has been good business. With the striker only being twenty-two and still improving, in a couple of seasons, who’s betting against them being back in European football?

Welsey has plenty of time to develop and progress as a footballer and Aston Villa could grow alongside him, as they look to establish themselves back in the top-flight. However, it may be quite a few years before we see Villa playing Champions League football.
