Aston Villa could face competition for Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos from French side Saint-Etienne.
The Colombia international has emerged as a potential target for the Villans in recent weeks, with Dean Smith wanting more firepower up front in his side.
Morelos’ goalscoring form in Scotland has been very impressive, with the 23-year old scoring 18 times in 30 Scottish Premiership games last season, picking up where he left off this campaign with eight goals in 11.
However, those goalscoring figures have inevitably led to interest from more than just the Midlands side, with Claude Puel’s Saint-Etienne also said to be keen, according to Le10Sport.
Villa are light on squad depth up front this season, with Wesley Moraes and Keinan Davis the main forward options for the campaign, while Jonathan Kodjia has barely featured.
Smith’s side are said to be ready to move for Morelos once the January transfer window opens, and the club will need to make a good offer to convince the forward that Villa Park is the best place for him to be.

Given that Morelos lacks any experience playing in an elite league, the Colombian would be a gamble, but one that Villa should take.
For his goalscoring exploits alone, Morelos is a player who does deserve to make a step up in order to test his ability to better limits, and Villa are in need of additional firepower.
Further interest in Morelos could see his price tag rise, and it is already expected that the 23-year old will be costly. However, if he turns out to be a hit, it would be worth the initial investment.
