Aston Villa are eyeing up a January swoop for Besiktas centre-back Domagoj Vida as they look to bolster their squad.
According to Turkish Football, via HITC, Aston Villa and Watford are both interested in a deal to sign the defender once the January window opens.
With Tyrone Mings suffering a hamstring injury against Leicester last weekend, Villa could be forced to sign a centre-back in January, with Vida potentially one of the players they are considering.

If Mings’ injury keeps him out for a number of weeks, it would be smart for Villa to dip into the market and sign someone to take his place. Villa are only out of the relegation zone on goal difference and have hardly excelled at the back, so bringing in a player of Vida’s experience would not be the biggest shock in the world.
Vida is a regular for Croatia at international level and impressed at the World Cup in 2018 as his side reached the final, only to lose to France in Russia. He has been playing in the Turkish league in recent seasons, so his ability to play regularly in the Premier League would come into question if Villa paid a large fee for the defender.
