Tottenham will reportedly battle Aston Villa in the race to sign highly-rated Brentford star Said Benrahma.
That’s according to the Sunday Times, cited by Football League World, who claim that Jose Mourinho has identified the 24-year-old as one of his first Spurs signings.

Villa were heavily tipped to sign the creative ace over the summer and have continued to be linked with the Algerian in recent months.
However, it looks as if Villa may now have to fend off the prospect of Champions League football at Tottenham to land the Championship star.

Dean Smith was desperate to reunite with Benrahma over the summer.
Villa’s only creative source has come through Jack Grealish this season, so Smith could be keen on taking on Spurs for Benrahma’s services.
He’d be guaranteed more game time at Villa Park, and the prospect of working under Smith again could be of interest to the attacking midfielder.
However, if Spurs make their move next month, Benrahma could also see it as an opportunity he simply can’t refuse.
