Aston Villa are interested in signing midfielder Danny Drinkwater on loan from Chelsea in January, according to a report from Rob Dorsett of Sky Sports.
Drinkwater is currently out on loan at Burnley but he’s hardly featured for the Clarets this season and as such, it seems unlikely that Sean Dyche will trigger the option that Burnley have to extend Drinkwater’s stay at Turf Moor past January.
As such, the midfielder, who has been capped three times by England, is said to be available for other clubs and Dean Smith is apparently interested in signing him.
Villa have lost John McGinn due to injury and as such, Smith is apparently keen to add more depth to his midfield options and Drinkwater is seemingly on his radar.

Drinkwater’s form at Leicester a few years ago was excellent but he’s not lived up to the hype following his move to Chelsea, and he’s hardly pulled up trees at Burnley either.
However, he is an experienced player who knows the Premier League well so it’s easy to see why Smith might be tempted to sign the 29-year-old on a short-term loan.
