Aston Villa have reportedly made an offer to sign former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge for €5 million this month.
According to Turkish outlet Fanatik, who cite Russian reports – as translated by Sport Witness, Aston Villa will face competition from CSKA Moscow and Lokomotiv Moscow in their pursuit of the Englishman.
It’s claimed that Trabzonspor president Ahmet Agaoglu may now consider selling the player as a result of his injury record and high wages.

In Sturridge, there is no doubt that Villa would be signing a player with vast Premier League experience.
Winning the Champions League twice throughout his career, Sturridge is someone who has played at the highest level. With 77 Premier League goals to his name, his know-how in the top flight could be a great help to Smith’s squad following Wesley’s long-term injury (transfermarkt).
However, while he’s a player with great experience, Villa could be taking a huge risk by bringing in someone with his injury record. Since joining the Turkish side in 2019, Sturridge has suffered six different injury problems and has missed 17 games for Trabzonspor as a result (transfermarkt).
Villa need goals to keep them afloat in the Premier League and it could be a huge gamble to bring in Sturridge if Dean Smith isn’t able to consistently call upon him every week.
