Matej Vydra’s agent Ondrej Chovanec has revealed to Russian news outlet Sport24 that Aston Villa and Rangers had bids rejected for the Burnley striker in January.
The 27-year-old has only played 100 minutes of Premier League football for the Clarets this season, registering one assist in that period (Transfermarkt).
When speaking about Vydra, Chovanec saVid:
Russian clubs are showing interest in Matej. But he also had offers from Rangers, Aston Villa and one major Ukrainian club.
However, Burnley decided to keep him in the squad. They are short of strikers and that was the reason.
He still wants to leave. He wants to move to a club where he can show his qualities. He wants to play regularly ahead of Euro 2020.

Dean Smith was in the market for a new striker after Wesley suffered a ligament injury early in January which ruled him out for the rest of the season.
Vydra has had some good spells with other English clubs, scoring 38 times for Watford and 27 times for Derby County (Transfermarkt), but his Burnley career has failed to take off yet.
We believe Vydra could have been a decent signing for Villa because of his hunger to play more first-team matches and force himself into the Czech Republic picture for Euro 2020 – he would’ve arrived with a point to prove.
However, being rejected by Burnley for Vydra could be a blessing in disguise as it meant Villa signed Tanzania international Mbwana Samatta, who scored on his top-flight debut for the club.
