Aston Villa sent scouts to watch Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi last weekend, according to a report on Turkish Football.
The forward was playing for the Turkish side against Trabzonspor and saw his side fall to a narrow 2-1 defeat against their rivals.
Fellow Premier League clubs Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur also had representatives that were said to be present to keep a close eye on the performance of Muriqi.
The report confirms that Villa wanted the striker in the January transfer window but Fenerbahce were not willing to offload him.

The 25-year-old has 13 goals in all competitions this season (Transfermarkt), so it isn’t a great surprise to see that there is so much interest in him at the moment.
According to Fotospor, the Kosovo international was also targeted by Manchester United last month which we believe shows just how good of a striker he is.
Despite Villa already signing Mbwana Samatta, they still look like they’re planning ahead for the summer transfer window and this could be for a number of reasons.
Wesley Moraes has suffered knee ligament damage and Jonathan Kodjia has left for Qatar, whilst youngster Keinan Davis continues to struggle with injuries, meaning Dean Smith doesn’t have many striking options at his disposal.
Therefore, we feel that is it good work from the club to scout targets now so there isn’t another desperate scramble in the summer for a striker like there was last month.
