Young Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey completed a loan move to join Doncaster Rovers until the end of the season last month, as reported on the Premier League club’s official website.
Before heading off to the League One club, the teenager signed a new three-and-a-half-year deal with Villa.
As reported on the Doncaster Free Press, Ramsey revealed that he asked Dean Smith if he could make the loan move.
I took the opportunity. I said Doncaster are interested, can I go there? And he [Smith] said yes. I took it. It was a 50-50 decision really.
Mark Harrison, the academy manager at Villa, knows Darren Moore really well.
They’ve been speaking. I’m guessing Mark put in a good word about me and the gaffer said yes.

Ramsey has made a fantastic start to his loan spell, scoring twice on his debut to help Doncaster to a 3-0 away victory over Tranmere Rovers.
We feel that this loan move could be great for Ramsey because it will provide him with some much needed first-team football. He has featured for Villa’s first-team twice this season but they were mere cameo appearances in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
Therefore, playing competitive football on a weekly basis could prove to be a great experience for the midfielder and help to increase his confidence, especially if he keeps getting involved in important goals.
