Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has praised Aston Villa coach John Terry for his steady approach into management.
Terry is currently an assistant coach at Villa under manager Dean Smith and will be in the dugout as Spurs come up against Villa in the Premier League this weekend.
Mourinho, who had plenty of successful years with Terry during their spell at Chelsea, revealed that he is proud of the Englishman. As quoted on Sky Sports, he said:
At this moment people get a job without proving anything. So, probably he could choose that one of waiting for a big call. He didn’t choose that one. He went through the difficult one. But probably through the stability one.
Based on different experiences, being an assistant, going to the Championship, leaving the Championship, coming to the Premier League and taking his time.
His moment to grow up and reach what he wants to reach will arrive, so I am really proud of the way he is doing things and we keep in touch when it’s possible.

Many former players have recently delved into the management world recently, accepting offers to takeover at really big clubs and some have not worked out.
Gary Neville was sacked by Spanish side Valencia after less than four months in charge, whilst Thierry Henry was dismissed by Monaco after only 20 matches.
This shows that going straight into a head coach role is risky and we agree with Mourinho’s comment that Terry has potentially done the right thing by easing his way into the trade.
Last summer, Terry was strongly linked with the manager’s role at Middlesbrough and Derby County, before signing a new deal with Villa, keeping him at the club until next year.
