Wolves are interested in signing Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips, according to a report on Football Insider.
Aston Villa and Wolves were among the several clubs who pursued the Leeds man last summer and as reported on The Mirror, Dean Smith’s side had an £11m offer rejected by the Championship club.
After a transfer window of uncertainty, Phillips penned a new five-year deal with Leeds in September, which ended all speculation surrounding his future.
However, as stated in the report, Wolves are still interested in the 24-year-old and will keep scouting him for the remainder of the season – with Phillips’ new deal including a release clause that can be activated in the summer for ‘a fee of above £20m’.

The new long-term deal signed by Phillips was a crushing blow to everyone interested in securing his signature and we feel that it could be very hard to tempt Leeds to sell him because of the new contract. The deal runs through until the summer of 2024 so we feel that only a significant amount of money could make the Championship side consider selling him.
We also feel that much will depend on whether Leeds get promoted to the Premier League or stay in the Championship. If the club fails to secure promotion, it could be the best option to cash in on Phillips, with England manager Gareth Southgate a known admirer.
He has previously stated that players must be playing at the highest level domestically if they want to be in with a shout of making the England squad going forward.
