Aston Villa midfielder Danny Drinkwater is set to be fit for this weekend’s Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur.
As reported on The Express, the Englishman missed Villa’s away defeat to Bournemouth after picking up an injury during a training session the day before the encounter.
However, manager Dean Smith expects the former Leicester man to be fully fit for the upcoming league clash with Spurs.
As quoted on the Birmingham Mail, Smith said before the clash with the Cherries:
He had a tight calf in training yesterday and wasn’t able to travel with us.
He’ll get himself back fit for Tottenham in a few weeks.

Drinkwater joined Villa on a loan deal until the end of the season from Chelsea last month. Smith was quick to play down criticism of the move, saying that signing the 29-year-old is not a gamble because of his experience.
However, we feel that it is a massive gamble because of his recent injury problems, which have kept him sidelined for long spells.
As reported on the Daily Mail, Drinkwater’s parent club Chelsea are still paying half of his £110,000-a-week salary, even though he is with Smith’s side until the end of the campaign, meaning Villa are paying £55,000-a-week for his services.
We believe this is far too much for someone who hasn’t been playing regularly for the last two seasons.
Many Villa fans hit out at the midfielder for his poor debut for the club during the 6-1 defeat against Manchester City and even though he is set to be fit, we feel that a place on the bench would be more suitable for him at the moment until he finds some much-needed confidence.
