Aston Villa are considering handing youngster Andre Green a new deal after some good form during his loan spell with Charlton Athletic, according to a report on Football Insider.
The Premier League side has reportedly been impressed by Green’s latest displays and if he keeps up the good work, then he is ‘in line’ for a new contract.
The attacker spent the first half of the season on loan at Preston North End but struggled for playing time at Deepdale, so was recalled and immediately sent on loan to Lee Bowyer’s Charlton.
Green’s current deal with Villa expires at the end of the season.
READ ASTON VILLA VERDICT
Green has already found the back of the net twice and registered one assist in six appearances for Charlton (Transfermarkt).
We feel that the 21-year-old’s versatility could be valuable for Villa in the future because he can operate as a winger or as a striker, providing the manager with more options going forward.
We believe there’s no way that Villa should let Green leave for free, especially because former boss Steve Bruce tipped him for a bright future.
With Keinan Davis being injury prone and Jonathan Kodjia moving to Qatar, keeping Green could be an important decision by Dean Smith because of the lack of attackers currently available to him.
