Aston Villa fell to a 3-2 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday at Villa Park.
The visitors scored the winner deep into stoppage time following a defensive mistake from Bjorn Engels, who was in the thick of the action all game.
As reported on BBC Sport, the centre-back gave away a penalty in the first half, scored Villa’s second goal of the match early in the second period and then lost concentration to allow the ball under his foot and through to Son Heung-Min, who stroked home the winner in the 94th minute.
After the game, Villa captain Jack Grealish was seen consoling the defender and many Villa fans loved that decision from the Englishman.
Grealish and Engels had combined earlier in the match to get Villa level as the playmaker’s accurate corner was headed past Hugo Lloris by the central defender.
Many Villa fans took to Twitter to show their appreciation to Grealish for his sympathy towards Engels, with some hailing his maturity and leadership as captain of the team.
