As reported on the Daily Mail, former Aston Villa and Tottenham defender Alan Hutton has announced his retirement from football.
The full-back was released by Aston Villa last summer and has failed to find a new club, resulting in him deciding to hang up his boots.
The Scottish international made 151 appearances in the Premier League, finding the net three times, registering seven assists and picking up 27 yellow cards (Transfermarkt).
The defender also scored twice in the Championship, including a memorable solo strike against rivals Birmingham City in November 2018.
Villa’s official Twitter account posted a video of the goal in honour of his retirement and many of the club’s fans have flocked to the post, providing their best wishes and reactions to the news.
Many of them want to see Hutton return to the club in some way, with some suggesting a coaching role at Villa Park for the former defender.
