Former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor has opened up on how life was at the club under former manager Remi Garde.
The striker was speaking on talkSPORT on Wednesday morning and revealed that the Frenchman was always too serious.
He said:
When Remi Garde came in, it was arrogance but in a sort of bad way. He would be watching training on the side with his arms folded, shaking his head.
He would sort of stand on the side sulking and shaking his head. He never got involved in the sessions and even on game days, he would just sit in the dugout.
He wanted it to be like an army base, you weren’t allowed to laugh or smile.

As reported on BBC Sport, Garde left Villa after just 147 days as their manager. He joined in November 2016 and the team only won two of their 20 league games during Garde’s tenure.
To hear a manager being so serious and not allowing the players to express themselves shows that he was not the correct man to take over from Tim Sherwood.
It also goes some way to showing why Garde was not a good person to help motivate a team, which is exactly what Villa needed at the time because they were in a fierce relegation fight.
