Aston Villa fell to a 2-0 defeat against Southampton on Saturday at the St Mary’s Stadium.
Goals from Shane Long and Stuart Armstrong were enough to condemn Villa to defeat and manager Dean Smith was not happy with the performances from some of his players.
The boss revealed angrily after that match that some of the players on show had played themselves out of the starting XI for the upcoming Carabao Cup final.
Some of the Villa players failed to impress on the day and many of the club’s fans were happy to finally see Smith call out some of them for their repeated poor showings for the club.
Villa now turn their attention to the Carabao Cup this week, where they face Manchester City in the final at Wembley Stadium.
Judging by Smith’s reaction, we could now see a much-changed line up against the defending champions this weekend.
One Aston Villa fan on Twitter posted a recording of Smith’s post-match interview and many fans were relieved to finally see him speaking out honestly.
