Many Aston Villa fans have started to question the role of assistant coach John Terry as the team continues to struggle defensively.
Terry, who made 492 appearances in the top-flight, winning the Premier League title five times in that period, signed a contract extension with Villa last summer and is understood to be working on the defensive side of their game.
However, there doesn’t appear to have been much of an improvement. Rather, it looks like the team is getting weaker defensively, proven by the fact that they have the worst defensive record in the league.
Dean Smith’s side has conceded 52 goals in 27 matches already this season and many fans can’t understand what Terry has been doing with the defenders.
In his entire Premier League career, Terry managed to keep 214 clean sheets and despite Villa changing to a system that has three centre-backs, it doesn’t seem to have helped.
The team is extremely leaky at the back and have been saved on multiple occasions by great goalkeeper displays, or could have conceded a lot more.
These fans on Twitter want to know exactly what Terry does with the defenders.
