According to a report on Football Insider, Aston Villa are lining up a summer move for defender Jake Cooper.
The centre-back plays in the Championship for Millwall and as stated in the report, Villa are keen to sign him in the summer, even if they get relegated back to the second tier.
Many Villa fans have reacted to the news and not a lot of them are happy about the rumours, with many feeling that the club is already planning for life in England’s second division.
Manager Dean Smith already looks to be trying to solve his defensive woes, with Villa conceding the most goals in the Premier League so far this season.
Cooper has only missed one league match for Millwall this season, playing in 33 of Milwall’s 34 Championship fixtures (Transfermarkt), which proves his fitness levels and also his reliability at the back.
