Aston Villa have scored some memorable goals in the Premier League over the years but one that always stands out is Matt Lowton’s strike against Stoke.
It’s fair to say that the full-back was not known for getting on the scoresheet as he managed just two goals in over 70 league appearances for Villa.
However, there won’t be many fans who don’t remember his strike at the Bet365 Stadium.
A Villa corner was twice cleared up the pitch, with Lowton running on and controlling the loose ball with his chest before smashing in an unstoppable volley from around 35 yards out.
The effort came on this day seven years ago and Villa marked that by sharing a video of the goal on Twitter to their fans this afternoon.
