Aston Villa have had some iconic figures play for the club in the past and Peter Schmeichel has to fall into that category.
Whilst the Danish international was coming towards the end of his career when he arrived in the West Midlands, he was still a legendary figure in the game.
That’s after the eight years he spent at Manchester United, years which saw Schmeichel play an integral part as the Red Devils won five league titles and also the Champions League.
Whilst the stopper will always be remembered for his time at Old Trafford, he did actually make some history with Villa – by becoming the first Premier League keeper to score a goal.

The effort, a well-hit volley from a corner, came against Everton at Goodison Park, although unfortunately it counted for little as his side lost 3-2.
