Aston Villa have had plenty of talented players over the years, all of whom brought different qualities to the team.
However, few could compare to former midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger when it came to striking a ball.
The German had a ferocious left-foot and even though he wasn’t a prolific scorer, when he did find the net, it was often a goal that would be remembered.
The current head of sport of VfB Stuttgart celebrated his 38th birthday at the weekend, so Villa’s Twitter account wished Hitzlsperger well and also shared a short clip of his best moments whilst wearing the claret and blue.

As well as that, they encouraged the fans to talk about their favourite memories of the ex-Lazio man and there were plenty of comments from the Villa faithful, with ‘Der Hammer’ still a popular figure with the support.
