Aston Villa assistant coach John Terry continues to be linked with the managerial job at Derby County.
The Championship side have been in poor form this season and are bottom of the division, winning just one of their opening 11 league fixtures. Pressure is now firmly mounting on the shoulders of Rams boss Phillip Cocu, who has been subject to claims that his job is now on the line.
Terry took the role of assistant coach at Villa Park in October 2018 shortly after his playing career came to an end and he has proved to be a key asset for the club, helping them to promotion to the Premier League in 2019 and a successful fight against relegation last term.
Working under Dean Smith, Terry has been tipped by his boss to go on and take up a senior management role. If a potential move to Derby does materialise, the defender could follow in the footsteps of former Chelsea teammate Frank Lampard, who spent one year in charge at Pride Park.
For now, Derby remain reluctant to sack Cocu but pressure will firmly be on the Dutchman if results don’t swiftly improve.

Villa are in excellent form in the Premier League and Terry continues to be a key part of that, working behind the scenes alongside Smith.
Losing Terry could be a problem for Villa, but for now he remains…
