Trezeguet was an injury doubt for Aston Villa ahead of Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Wolverhampton Wanderers, but Birmingham Live claimed that the 26-year-old should be available for selection.
Trezeguet suffered a head injury in Villa’s recent 2-1 defeat to West Ham United and had a bad cut which needed treating, but he has since recovered and could start at Molineux tomorrow.
The Egyptian international has made 51 appearances in all competitions since joining from Kasimpasa in 2019, scoring seven goals and supplying five assists, but he has not been having the best of seasons so far this term.
READ ASTON VILLA VERDICT
Trezeguet has failed to score in 10 appearances and only has two assists to his name in 2020/21, so his place in the side may be up for grabs. He missed a sitter in the West Ham defeat and has players breathing down his neck for playing time in Bertrand Traore and Anwar El Ghazi.
Villa are coming off the back of four defeats from their last five league games, so they desperately need a result. Smith can’t afford Trezeguet to fire blanks, so he must think carefully about restoring the Egyptian to the starting XI.
In other news, one of Trezeguet’s team-mates could also be in line to return to the team for the Wolves game tomorrow.
