Aston Villa have confirmed that Trezeguet will miss Thursday’s Premier League meeting with Burnley.
The 26-year-old has been struggling with a hamstring injury which caused him to miss Saturday’s 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers and won’t return in time to face the Clarets.
Premier Injuries make no prediction on when Trezeguet could return, but Birmingham Live believe it will be at the end of December. Dean Smith still has Jack Grealish, Bertrand Traore and Anwar El Ghazi at his disposal, so Villa have wide attacking options in Trezeguet’s stead.

Although previously hailed as an ‘important player’ by Tyrone Mings, the Egyptian international hasn’t been at his best this season, failing to score in nine league games and only providing one assist, so his absence isn’t a big loss.
Trezeguet’s last outing came in November’s 2-1 defeat to West Ham United and resulted in him being withdrawn in the 74th minute. Smith gave the nod to El Ghazi to replace him but handed Traore a rare start in Villa’s win over Wolves.
El Ghazi came off the bench to score the winner in that game, so it will likely be a toss-up between the two as to who starts against Burnley.
In other news, Dean Smith says one Aston Villa player is ‘getting closer’ to returning from injury.
