Dean Smith recently confirmed that Aston Villa are considering giving new deals to Ezri Konsa and Douglas Luiz as a reward for their fine form this season and many supporters are delighted with the news.
Konsa and Luiz both joined Villa in the summer of 2019 from Brentford and Manchester City respectively and have two-and-a-half years remaining on their respective deals, but an improved contract could mean a pay rise and longer terms.
The Villans have tied down four first-team players to long-term deals since September – Jack Grealish (five years), Tyrone Mings (four years), Keinan Davis (four years) and last week John McGinn (five-year deal on December 11) – so they’ve ensured that no top talent will leave unless it is on their terms.
Konsa has impressed alongside Tyrone Mings at centre-back this season and Luiz has stood out alongside John McGinn and Ross Barkley in midfield, so these Villa fans unsurprisingly want the pair to stay for as long as possible.
100% the right thing to do and is really good to see.
Let’s get it done ✅.

This should've been the priority, two world-class talents who we need to build around. A supermax could be the deciding factor in Luiz rejecting City, let him write whatever numbers he wants. The bids are going to be serious in the summer. https://t.co/XWj3KSFsmA

In other news, Dean Smith could have two big selection calls to make for this evening’s clash against Burnley.
