Aston Villa were held to a 0-0 draw with Burnley on Thursday evening and Jack Grealish was one of the players who impressed without getting on the scoresheet.
Against Burnley, he played for 90 minutes, had 76 touches, created six chances, had six shots, completed 95.6% of his 45 passes, whipped in four crosses, won one tackle and seven free kicks, made one interception and had four successful dribbles [WhoScored].
Nobody created more chances and had more successful dribbles than the “sensational” 25-year-old at Villa Park, but he was let down by players misfiring around him. The 5ft 9in playmaker failed to hit the target from any of his six shots against Burnley, but he was the most threatening player on the pitch.
Anwar El Ghazi and Bertrand Traore in particular were wasteful. Grealish was guilty of missing multiple opportunities himself, but some supporters believe his overall efforts “deserved better” on the night and worry that his future in the Midlands may be uncertain if he continues to be “totally wasted” at Villa Park.
As frustrating as tonight was, it’s joyous watching @JackGrealish play for #avfc
Going into (almost) every game knowing you will have the best player on the pitch 🙌🏻
If we can continue to add more quality around him the future is so so bright ✨✨

On another note, sounds like a broken record but wow Grealish was sensational, deserved better. Drove at them countless times, possibly could've done better on a couple of chances #avfc

Time to be positive, another clean sheet. Plenty of finishing drills in training this week please, El Ghazi was a threat. Grealish was the best player on the park as always, Hause and Elmo came in and did a job. Will welcome some key players back for the West Brom game #AVFC

El Ghazi, Traore , Grealish were lively , but just couldnt finish , Watkins was good on the ball , but didnt really have any chances. I'll take the point , but this should have been 3 #AVLBUR #AVFC

Super Jack was great. One of our issues is that our other players are quite good, but Jack Grealish is brilliant. They’re just not at his level. So many missed opportunities. #AVFC

Jack Grealish is on his own. The rest of the attacking line up was quite woeful. 3 points to be had, only 1 taken. Disappointing #AVFC

Grealish has scored six goals and made six assists in 12 appearances this season, but how long will he stay at Villa?
In other news, Aston Villa may have to forget about one rumoured transfer.
