Aston Villa were interested in Milot Rashica over the summer but failed to get a deal over the line as they were unwilling to meet his wage demands.
They eventually settled for Bertrand Traore from Lyon and Gregg Evans of The Athletic believes that the Clarets and Blues aren’t likely to return for the 24-year-old Werder Bremen winger when the winter transfer window opens.
He explained: “Milot Rashica of Werder Bremen was another player of interest but a lot would have to change to get that potential move going again. The Kosovan is also injured and likely to miss the majority of next month, which would make a pursuit even more complex.”
Rashica joined Werder Bremen from Vitesse Arnhem in January 2018 and has gone on to make 79 appearances in all competitions, scoring 24 goals and supplying 15 assists. In his last two seasons at the Weserstadion, the Kosovan international has scored 17 goals and made 12 assists in 54 Bundesliga games – one goal or assist every 1.86 games on average.

It’s easy to see why Villa wanted him, but they were unwilling to pay his wage demands and therefore Rashica remained in Germany. This season, he has made only five Bundesliga appearances from a possible 13 due to a knee injury and hamstring problem, so his stock isn’t the highest right now.
Dean Smith will seemingly be content with Traore, Trezeguet, Anwar El Ghazi and Jack Grealish as his wide options, with the quartet having 12 goals and 11 assists between them so far this term.
In other news, Aston Villa are set to avoid a potential move for a ‘talismanic’ striker for two reasons.
