Jaden Philogene-Bidace has an uncertain future at Aston Villa. The 18-year-old’s contract is up next summer and he’s no closer to putting pen to paper on an extension beyond 2021.
The Daily Mail say RB Leipzig are looking to take advantage of his situation by procuring his signature for cheap when the winter transfer window opens. Philogene-Bidace is coming to the end of a professional deal signed in August and
Philogene-Bidace’s old Pro:Direct academy coach Ahmed Abdulla called him “outstanding” upon the move to Villa, but the Claret and Blues may not be the ones to benefit from his potential. Whether he joins Leipzig remains to be seen, however, as Arsenal and Manchester City have been previously linked.
The 18-year-old is lighting up the Premier League 2, scoring four goals and making two assists in eight games, and arguably deserves first-team football this season. Smith has so far resisted, however, and seems to prefer Jack Grealish, Anwar El Ghazi, Trezeguet and Bertrand Traore.
If Villa can’t get Philogene-Bidace to sign a new deal, they may have to accept offers in January to avoid him leaving for free next summer.
