Dean Smith isn’t short on options out wide with Jack Grealish, Trezeguet, Anwar El Ghazi and Bertrand Traore at his disposal, but Trezeguet is the only one of the four that hasn’t fired this season.
The 5ft 9in 26-year-old hasn’t scored in the Premier League since July and hasn’t made an assist since October, so he’s not the best option for Dean Smith to call upon if his side are chasing a goal.
Trezeguet only has seven goals and five assists in 51 games since joining from Kasimpasa in 2019, so he’s proven not to be prolific at the top level. With the January transfer window approaching, might Villa consider an upgrade?
Typically, clubs aren’t going to let their prolific forwards leave midway through the season, so Villa will have to gamble on a player that isn’t getting regular opportunities.
Jesse Lingard has been linked with the Midlands outfit and certainly fits the bill when it comes to being an available out-of-favour forward, but his lack of playing time coincides with him scoring only 1 EPL goal and making 0 EPL assists in 2020 so Villa might be put off making a move.
Theo Walcott returned to Southampton on a season-long loan in October and has contributed four goals in 11 games this season, but can Villa find their equivalent?
