Trezeguet has been short of goals and assists for Aston Villa this season and Dean Smith may need an upgrade in the January transfer window, but one player who won’t be coming to Villa Park is Emiliano Buendía.
The 24-year-old is on Dean Smith’s radar, but Norwich City have no desire to let him go this month, according to Sky Sports News. Their report states that ‘offers will be ignored’ by the Canaries, so Villa’s pursuit of Buendía may be dead in the water. Smith has played down talk of bringing in new faces, too, so it may only have been speculation.
Trezeguet hasn’t scored in the Premier League since July and hasn’t recorded an assist since October (Transfermarkt), so his long-term future at Villa Park might be in doubt.
READ ASTON VILLA VERDICT
Buendia has scored seven goals and supplied seven assists in 19 Championship games this season, so the figures suggest that he would be an improvement on the Egyptian at Villa Park.
Norwich are four points clear at the top of the Championship and will not want to lose their most influential players midway through the season. Their promotion bid could falter if Buendia and others are sold, so Villa might have to turn their attentions elsewhere.
