Keinan Davis has an uncertain future at Aston Villa as he has been short of form and game-time this season, but it seems unlikely that he will leave in January.
The Daily Mail reported that Championship outfit Stoke City are trying to lure him away from Villa Park, but their pursuit will not be successful as Dean Smith needs him for cover.
The 22-year-old has scored only five goals and provided six assists in 74 games for Villa, but he is up to second in the centre-forward pecking order while Wesley Moraes is recovering from a long-term knee injury. Davis is playing second fiddle to Ollie Watkins and has only amassed 47 minutes of Premier League football this season, but he needs to stay until a secondary option is available.
Wesley is expected to fill that role when he’s fully fit, but Smith could also sign a striker before the January transfer window shuts. Villa have been linked with Odsonne Edouard, Josh King, Ivan Toney and Divock Origi, but it remains to be seen whether a centre-forward will be brought in this month.

Stoke are just outside the Championship playoff places and have failed to score in four of their last seven games, so they need added firepower this month if they are to maintain their push for promotion.
Davis is among several attackers being sought by the Potters this month, but Villa won’t be letting him go until they have somebody lined up in his stead.
