Jack Grealish is having an outstanding season at Aston Villa and 90min reported that club owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens are ‘ready to sanction’ a new deal for the 26-year-old to make him unsellable.
The 25-year-old signed a five-year deal worth £120,000 per week last September but this proposed extension could be worth £200,000-a-week, equivalent to £10.4m per year.
The England international has scored seven goals and made 12 assists in 22 appearances this season. In the Premier League, Grealish hasn’t gone more than two games without contributing a goal or assist, so he is remarkably consistent.
Such form will inevitably attract the attention of top European clubs, so Villa are desperate to price him out of the market. Grealish is already tied down until 2025, but a more lucrative contract would make it more difficult for a suitor to offer him improved terms to lure him away from Villa Park.
Grealish seems happy at Villa and hasn’t shown any desire to leave, but his stock is rising so high that his future will inevitably be discussed. Whether the Claret and Blues can match the playmaker’s vision is the challenge.

Grealish was tipped to leave Villa upon the club’s relegation to the Championship in 2016, but he remained loyal and is now an influential captain staking claim as one of the best playmakers in Europe.
Villa don’t want to let him go without a fight and supporters should applaud the club’s ambition.
