Ezri Konsa is having a fantastic season for Aston Villa, playing an important role in the Claret and Blues boasting one of the best defensive records in the Premier League.
The 23-year-old has spent most of 2020/21 alongside Tyrone Mings at centre-back, helping Villa to the second-best goal concession record and clean sheet tally in the Premier League.
Konsa’s form hasn’t gone unnoticed and David Ornstein of The Athletic claimed that Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are ‘studying’ his development at Villa Park and could make a move when the summer transfer window opens.
The former England under-21 international joined Villa from Brentford for £12m in 2019 and has gone on to make 52 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals and supplying two assists.
In Konsa’s first season at the club, Villa kept seven clean sheets and conceded 67 goals in the league. This term, the Claret and Blues already have 12 clean sheets after 22 games and have conceded just 24 league goals.
Villa have looked watertight in defence and Konsa is one reason why. He has won 47 aerial duels, blocked 25 shots, made 83 clearances, given away only eight fouls, made 14 interceptions, been dribbled past just three times and won 14 tackles this season (WhoScored).
It’s no wonder Liverpool and Tottenham are interested given such statistics, but Villa have no obligation to cash in as Konsa’s deal has two-and-a-half years left to run.

It’s a great compliment for Konsa that he has the two Champions League finalists from 2019 on his trail, but it’s hard to see Villa entertaining any offers.
The 23-year-old is flourishing under Dean Smith and The Athletic claimed that Villa are looking to extend his deal, so he could remain in the Midlands for another while yet.
