Ezri Konsa has impressed at the heart of Aston Villa’s defence this season and finds himself being linked with Liverpool and Tottenham, but David Ornstein of The Athletic says that the 23-year-old has also caught the eye of England manager Gareth Southgate.
Harry Maguire, Eric Dier, Kyle Walker, Tyrone Mings, Michael Keane and Conor Coady have been used by the former Aston Villa defender during his time in charge of the Three Lions, while John Stones, Rob Holding and Ben White are knocking on the door.
Ornstein has now claimed that Konsa is ‘on (the) England radar’ and believes that Southgate has him ‘under consideration’, as per The Athletic.
Fellow Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings is a regular in the England squad and has played in the Three Lions’ last four internationals, so Konsa seemingly has a chance of joining him as he is the 27-year-old’s regular centre-back partner at club level. Notably, Villa have conceded the second-fewest goals in the Premier League this season and have the second-most clean sheets, a testament to their fine defensive work.
Konsa has made 20 Premier League appearances this term and appears to have a bright future. It remains to be seen whether he has an outside chance of making the England squad ahead of this summer’s European Championships, but his form definitely isn’t going unnoticed.

It’s brilliant that Konsa is getting the credit he deserves, and an England callup would be a fantastic reward.
However, he does have a lot of players ahead of him in the queue and he hasn’t been in an England set up since playing for the under-21s in 2019, so he may need to be a little more patient before getting a full international debut.
