Anwar El Ghazi recently spoke to the Ajax Podcast and was asked which player he would like Aston Villa to sign. The 25-year-old said he would like to see Dusan Tadic join the Clarets and Blues and hailed the 32-year-old for his professionalism and willingness to improve on the training ground.
El Ghazi said: “That guy, man. I like people who have a mentality to work hard and train hard. I heard a lot of stories and interviews from other players that he’s always training extra and boosting players, grabbing players to join him. He’s a great professional on the pitch as well. He can join us if he wants!”
Tadic joined Ajax in 2018 and has gone on to make 128 appearances in all competitions, scoring 68 goals and supplying 56 assists. He has won one Eredivisie title, one Dutch Cup and one Dutch Super Cup during his time in Amsterdam.
Ajax are currently six points clear at the summit this season and Tadic has had a hand in 17 goals from 21 Eredivisie games, so his career is still flourishing. The £18m-rated Serbian scored 24 goals and supplied 35 assists in 162 games for Southampton between 2014 and 2018, so he has a wealth of Premier League experience.
Former Villa manager Paul Lambert said in 2014 that he tried to sign Tadic before he eventually joined Southampton, so the 32-year-old has been on their radar in the past. It’s hard to see him returning to the Premier League now, though, as he’s settled in the Netherlands and has two-and-a-half years remaining on his current contract.

Villa lost out to Southampton in their pursuit of Tadic years ago and he would have improved their squad now with 165 goals and 176 assists to his name,
While El Ghazi might make a convincing case for wanting the Serbian at Villa Park, his team-mate Jack Grealish hasn’t been doing too badly on the creative front, with seven goals and 12 assists this season highlighting his importance to the cause.
