The last time Aston Villa kept 15 Premier League clean sheets

Aston Villa drew 0-0 with Everton on Thursday evening and Emiliano Martinez kept his 15th Premier League clean sheet of the season – matching the club record set by two former goalkeepers – so Read Aston Villa have taken a look at the ex-Villans with most PL shutouts in a season.

Prior to Martinez, Brad Friedel was the last player to match Villa’s clean sheet record. The 49-year-old, who was 37 at the time, made 38 Premier League appearances in 2009/10, conceding 39 goals and keeping 15 clean sheets.

Mark Bosnich was the first, however. The 49-year-old, who was 23 at the time, made 38 Premier League appearances in 1995/96, conceding 33 goals and keeping 15 clean sheets.

Martinez has made 35 Premier League appearances in 2020/21, conceding 41 goals and keeping 15 clean sheets. With three games remaining, the 28-year-old could surpass Friedel and Bosnich to become Villa’s best shot-stopper.

The Midlands outfit have Crystal Palace (A), Tottenham Hotspur (A) and Chelsea (H) to face, but can Martinez shut out one of the three clubs to set a new clean sheet record?
