Aston Villa pre-emptively replaced Jack Grealish by signing Emiliano Buendia from Norwich City and Leon Bailey from Bayer Leverkusen, but Express Sport says the Midlands outfit aren’t finished.
Norwich wide-man Todd Cantwell is on Villa’s radar, but it remains to be seen if they’ll lodge a bid before the summer transfer window shuts. The focus is still on signing a central midfielder, but Cantwell isn’t being ruled out.
Many supporters on social media would love to see Cantwell at Villa Park and believe he’d improve the squad. Anwar El Ghazi and Trezeguet have uncertain futures, so Cantwell would be a positive alternative if the pair left.
The 23-year-old has made 103 appearances in all competitions since rising through the youth ranks to Norwich’s first-team in 2018/19, scoring 14 goals with 12 assists.
Cantwell is back in the Premier League after Norwich were relegated in 2020, so his stock could rise at Carrow Road if Villa don’t act fast. The former England youth international already has an asking price of £30m, so that number could go up if he impresses in the top-flight.
