Frederic Guilbert posts pic on IG after team rescue point and shares family snap

Frederic Guilbert remains a regular at Racing Strasbourg and appears to be enjoying himself at the Stade de la Meinau if his Instagram story is anything to go by. The 26-year-old joined Strasbourg on loan as he wasn’t getting first-team football at Aston Villa, but his decision to temporarily leave has paid off.

He posted a picture as his Strasbourg side rescued a point against Stade de Reims, posted a video of him walking with his child in the stroller and then had a selfie with his daughter.

Guilbert missed the first four games of the season as he was still at Villa but has gone on to make 10/10 Ligue 1 appearances since. The uncapped French defender has amassed 802/900 minutes of football under Julien Stéphan and might be considering turning the move permanent if Villa don’t need him.

Steven Gerrard has Matty Cash and Ashley Young who can operate at right-back, so he doesn’t have a fervent need to bring Guilbert back. The 26-year-old has made 32 appearances in all competitions since joining Villa in 2019, but he’s made only three appearances since the start of the 2020/21 campaign.

It’s good to see Guilbert enjoying life back in France as the door may be closed to him in England. Time will tell.
