Fans on social media ‘want to see’ Aston Villa sign the ‘best midfielder’ in Kamara

Aston Villa aren’t short of options in the engine room with Douglas Luiz, John McGinn, Marvelous Nakamba and Morgan Sanson at their disposal, but Steven Gerrard wants a defensive-midfielder before the January transfer window shuts.

One player Villa have been consistently linked with since Gerrard replaced Dean Smith is Glen Kamara, but the Midlands outfit are also paying an interest in Brighton & Hove Albion’s Yves Bissouma and Olympique Marseille’s Boubacar Kamara.

Though Glen Kamara is the least-fancied option for a lot of supporters, fans on social media are still open to signing the Rangers midfielder.

Kamara joined Rangers from Dundee FC for just £50k in January 2019 and has gone on to make 133 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals with nine assists.

The 26-year-old has made 18 Scottish Premiership appearances this season, created 28 chances, made 22 successful dribbles, completed 91.4% of his passes and averaged a tackle (19) or interception (16) every 44 minutes.

Kamara has three-and-a-half-years remaining on his contract at Ibrox, so Rangers are under no obligation to sell. If the Finnish international wants out of Scotland, a move might be granted should his asking price be matched. Time will tell.
