Journalists say ‘bright’ Coutinho ‘looked dangerous’ v Tottenham

Aston Villa suffered their fourth consecutive Premier League defeat on Saturday evening, losing 4-0 to Tottenham Hotspur, but not every player was a disappointment. Philippe Coutinho put in a decent performance despite the poor result, so he’s one of few who can hold their head high.

Ashley Preece of Birmingham Live gave the 29-year-old a player rating of 6/10 and said he was ‘really bright’ for periods. Jude Summerfield of 90min gave Coutinho a player rating of 6/10 and said he ‘looked dangerous’ before being substituted in the second half. Cole Pettem of 7500toHolte gave the Brazilian international a player rating of 5/10 and said he ‘showed bits of quality’.

Against Tottenham, Coutinho played for 69 minutes, had 59 touches, on two aerial duels, completed 75% of his 48 passes, created three chances, had three shots with 33% hitting the target, whipped in one cross which found a teammate, blocked one shot and had one successful dribble.

Coutinho has made 12 Premier League appearances for Villa this season, scoring four goals with three assists. He’s failed to score or make an assist in his last four outings, however.
