Kortney Hause made just nine appearances in all competitions last season and now has extra competition for a starting place after Diego Carlos was signed over the summer, so the 27-year-old is likely to struggle for playing time.
Steven Gerrard preferred Tyrone Mings, Ezri Konsa and Calum Chambers ahead of Hause in 2021/22, so he doesn’t stand a chance of featuring with Carlos vying for games this coming campaign.
But with Hause currently recovering from a knee injury, there doesn’t appear to be any suitors willing to sign him permanently. Adam Leventhal of The Athletic says Watford are interested in the 27-year-old but only on loan.
Hause has three years remaining on his deal at Villa Park, so the Midlands outfit aren’t in a rush to cash in. He could be sent away for a season and then dealt with the following summer, so Gerrard should consider looking Watford up.
The 27-year-old has made 55 appearances in all competitions for Villa since joining on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers in January 2019 and turning the move permanent months later.
It’s hard to see how Hause gets back into the team while Gerrard is in charge, however, especially because he’ll be short of match fitness this season due to injury, so he’ll have to look elsewhere for playing time.
