Aston Villa journalist Ashley Preece has relayed an injury update regarding Boubacar Kamara and his current fitness situation.
On his official Twitter page, Preece quote-tweeted a post from L’Equipe about Kamara after he picked up a knee injury during Villa’s recent 1-0 win over Southampton.
In his post, Preece had this to say on the matter.
He said: “A two-month injury, via @lequipe, with Kamara’s World Cup hopes now appearing over. Aston Villa have flew Kamara to Dubai for further treatment. How’s your luck? #avfc“
It has since been confirmed by Villa’s official Twitter account that the midfielder suffered knee ligament damage during the recent win over the Saints.
The official club website have revealed that Kamara has now started his rehabilitation programme but did not put a time scale on when he could return to action.
Having started all of Villa’s seven league games this season, this shows just how valuable he has been for the team and Steven Gerrard.
However, it’s his actions on the pitch that have proved how important he is for the team and why it will be such a blow for them and the manager to have him out of action for the foreseeable future.
For example, the Frenchman currently tops Villa’s list for the number of successful tackles (15), successful pressures (50) and interceptions (12).
This highlights the defensive attributes that the player has and what Villa will now be missing as a result of his injury. The impact is heightened by ongoing insurance dispute issues surrounding his absence.
Bearing in mind how only seven clubs in the league have conceded more shots on target than the Villans so far this season (29), having the 22-year-old and his defensive attributes unavailable could make Gerrard’s side weaker in that regard.
Moving forward, Gerrard will have to make sure his players can step up and do what they need to while Kamara recovers.
