Aston Villa have seen some big-name players make their way to the Midlands club during recent transfer windows.
One example is Philippe Coutinho, who, after initially joining the Villans on loan from Barcelona, became a permanent player for the club during the recent summer window.
Having made 27 appearances for the Villa Park outfit across all competitions, the Brazilian has scored five goals and provided three assists along the way.
Even though the Brazilian has some years left before his contract at Villa expires, Steven Gerrard may already have his ideal long-term heir for the 30-year-old.
With 42 appearances to his name across Villa’s U21 and U18 sides, 20-year-old winger, Jaden Philogene-Bidace, has found the net 22 times and supplied five assists in the process.
Even when he’s had the chance to shine in the first team, the youngster has shown what he’s capable of by delivering two assists in five senior games.
This shows the attacking talent he has and how similar he is to Coutinho in being able to score and set up goalscoring opportunities for his teammates.
The Englishman currently finds himself on loan with Championship club Cardiff City, where he has played on both the left and right sides of the pitch and scored one goal in eight league games.
As things stand, Philogene-Bidace currently has the highest average of shots per game (1.5) at the Welsh club, highlighting how much of an attacking threat he is.
That average is not far away from Coutinho’s average of shots at goal per game (1.3) in this current Premier League campaign, which further showcases the attacking prowess the two players have.
Described as a “dynamic” player by Michael O’Neill, Philogene-Bidace could certainly put himself in Gerrard’s thoughts about potentially making him a regular figure in the Villa squad next season if he continues to impress at Cardiff and adds more goals to his tally.
