Aston Villa Women have signed Norway international midfielder Justine Kielland from VfL Wolfsburg, subject to visa approval, as Natalia Arroyo adds more senior European experience to her squad.
The 23-year-old defensive midfielder becomes the latest addition in a busy Villa window, following the arrivals of Kamilla Melgård and Amalie Vangsgaard. It continues a clear push to give Arroyo more proven options before her first full WSL campaign.
Villa have already started reshaping the squad around both new signings and returning players, with the club’s loan group also adding to Arroyo’s early selection decisions.
Kielland Gives Villa Another Midfield Option
Kielland came through Norway’s youth set-up and has gone on to win 16 senior caps. She began her club career with Stabæk before joining Brann in 2023, where she helped the Norwegian side reach the Women’s Champions League quarter-finals.
That run included four goals in 12 European appearances and earned her a move to Wolfsburg in 2024.
For Villa, the appeal is obvious. Kielland brings senior international pedigree, Champions League experience and a midfield profile built around control rather than just energy.
Speaking after the move, Kielland said it was “an amazing feeling” to join Villa and said she was looking forward to testing herself in the WSL.
She also revealed that new Villa team-mate Lynn Wilms had spoken positively about the club before the move.
For Arroyo, this is another useful piece in a midfield group that needed more authority. Villa have not just added another body; they have added a player used to serious European standards.
